I Can’t Find My Pathogen or Toxin Listed in the Biosecurity Portal! What’s the Risk Group?

Over the last few months, the Centre for Biosecurity has been busy updating nomenclature in our database to reflect internationally-accepted taxonomy. Alternative and previously-accepted names or synonyms are available within the ePATHogen Risk Group database. You will be able to find your biological agent of interest if we've assigned it a risk group.

However, the biological agent search engine within the Biosecurity Portal doesn’t allow you to search with synonyms. If you can’t find a specific pathogen on the Biosecurity Portal, we recommend that you search the ePATHogen Risk Group database to find the accepted name and then use this for your search in the Portal.
