Welcome to the Centre for Biosecurity's Webinar Series.

One of the requirements of any containment laboratory in Canada is to have a training plan for their employees including scientists, technicians, students, maintenance staff, security and authorized visitors. This webinar will provide an overview of what a training needs analysis is, how to create one, and considerations for the training plan. It will bring more clarity to the section 4.2 of the Canadian Biosafety Standard, Third edition.

The presentation aims to provide an overview of the Plan program, dual-use overview and oversight, identifying dual-use potential, performing a risk assessment, and mitigating research risks!

The goal of the webinar was to dive into equipment and system consideration that guide the selection process for safe and efficient laboratory operation. The presentation includes Transfer Equipment, Controlled Activity Equipment, and touched on the activities of the Biocontainment Engineering Science Working Group!

This Webinar is aimed at biocontainment professionals that are newer in the field. We’ll lay the foundation of what constitutes a complete biosafety program, and how it translates into the design and operation of a facility. This includes how to elaborate your program and procedures, as well as how to make a lab (new construction or renovation) physically fit your needs. We’ll also cover specific considerations for animal works, for small and large animals zones.

This webinar will provide updates on Laboratory Incident Reporting Canada 2022 Annual Report, Risk Group 3 Fungi Directive, Licensing updates and the Canadian Biosafety (CBS3) mobile app.

This webinar will provide an overview of what TDG is and explain the requirements related to the transportation of infectious substances.

This webinar will describe what is an incident. You will find out just how many types of incidents exist. How do you report a lab incident? To whom do you report these incidents? What are mandatory and voluntary incidents? What is involved? Why do we need to do this?

This webinar will provide an overview of the Agency’s process for inspecting containment level 2 facilities conducting controlled activities under the Human Pathogens and Toxins Act (HPTA) and the Health of Animals Act (HAA).

This webinar will provide a short demonstration of the PHAC Training Portal as well as information on the various apps and resources to support stakeholders in complying with the HTPA/R.

The Canadian Biosafety Standard, third edition (CBS3) webinar series part two was held February 8th, 2023. This webinar included a short presentation on CBS3 as well as a dedicated question and answer period. The intent of this session is to guide facilities in implementing and achieving compliance with CBS3 requirements.
