Reminder: GCKey Expires Every Two Years

The Centre for Biosecurity’s Biosecurity Portal requires the use of a Sign-In Partner (such as a bank) or an individual electronic identity (GCKey). These login methods provide secure access to most of the Government of Canada’s online services. The Sign-In Partner and GCKey serve as personnel identifiers and must never be shared with others.

You must use your GCKey at least once every 2 years or it will be revoked. If your GCKey has been revoked but you wish to access your Government of Canada online accounts, you will need to register to obtain another GCKey.

To reconnect your Biosecurity Portal account once you have created a new GCKey:

  1.        On the login page of the account that you will be using, select the GCKey button (login, connect, and register with GCKey).
  2.        On the Welcome to GCKey services page, select the “Register” button and create a new username and password.
  3.        Follow all of the steps as you would when creating a new account.
  4.        Once registration is complete, you can recover your account by selecting that you already have an account and entering your access code and your answers to the security question.

If you have any difficulty with recovering your account on the Biosecurity Portal, please contact the Licensing team by email at licence.permis@phac-aspc.gc.ca, or by phone at 613-957-1779.
