Update of the Biosafety Advisory for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2

The Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency have updated the biosafety advisory for severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2. The advisory now describes the risk group classification for full length severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 RNA as:

• a Risk Group 2 human pathogen and
• a Risk Group 1 animal pathogen and outlines biosafety requirements for in vitro activities

Use this guideline in conjunction with the Canadian Biosafety Standard.
