Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s Updated Website

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s Office of Biohazard Containment and Safety has significantly updated its web pages to provide regulated parties with enhanced information about their programs and services. The updates were launched on August 26, 2025.

The web address remains unchanged.

Key additional information that has been added:

• When to apply for permission to import or transfer regulated materials
• What importers need to know, including how to submit applications, ask questions, and tips for successful submissions
• Details on their compliance program for lower containment facilities
• Information on their certification program for higher containment facilities
• References to relevant Canadian standards, biosafety directives, and advisories
