This course provides an overview of the Human Pathogens and Toxins Act and Regulations (HPTA/R) and is intended for those working in facilities conducting controlled activities with human pathogens and toxins in Canada. This course is an overview only and does not cover all aspects of the HPTA/R. We strongly recommend that the HPTA/R is read in its entirety to understand the aspect that may be applicable to you.
After completing this course, learners will be able to:
•Identify the types of activities, pathogens, and toxins that fall under the HPTA
•Identify exemptions and exclusions from the HPTA
•Recognize the licensing program and define roles and responsibilities under the HPTA
•Recognize the conditions of a licence under the HPTR
This course will take approximately 55-70 minutes to complete.
